About: Johnny Woods is an animator, video artist, and editor based in Los Angeles. His work employs a variety of digital and analog technologies in the creation of expanded cinema inspired by his fascination with electronic video processing and computer animation. He has received commissions from MOCA, The Museum of Sex, and the Bonnaroo Music Festival, as well as from musicians like Big Boi, Neon Indian, Classixx, Twin Shadow, Bear In Heaven, Chrome Canyon, and Hooray For Earth. As a performing video artist, he has appeared at such venues as the Sydney Opera House, MoMA, LACMA, the Hirshhorn Museum, ICA (Philadelphia), Coachella, and Lollapalooza. Johnny's video work has been featured on The Huffington Post, Creator's Project, Motionographer, Pitchfork, MocaTV, Vice, Liquid Television, and numerous others. Currently, Johnny is working primarily on short-form experimental films, and has just completed Dazzling Odysseys: The Electric Mind; a 60 minute animated tribute to early computer graphics. He is co-founder and co-curator of, a monthly screening event in Los Angeles featuring experimental animation and video art, and director of Undervolt & Co., a label for experimental video artists.
